I don't need it... But I want it.

Flat #1

Black and white is often right… as can be seen viewing this beautiful parisian flat designed by E-C-O-L-E. I love love love the stairs!

Facing the Eglise Saint-Gervais on one side and the Hôtel de Ville de Paris on the other, this 95 sqm apartment occupies the whole of the the two top floors of an 18th century building. The project comprised a full restructuration of the existing space and the conception of some design elements. The first floor, formerly consisting of  a long corridor and four rooms has been largely cut open. Thus, the entrance, the living room and the kitchen form one single continuity. The guest space (a bedroom and a bathroom) has been built on the same floor. A steel staircase links the living room to the owner’sv private space underneath the roof.

Mad Men meets David Lynch

There’s definitely something happening in the image series “Something is happening” by Amsterdam based Photographer Erwin Olaf!

With an incredibly detailed eye for life in the 1950s and ’60s, Erwin Olaf’s photographs offer much more than what’s seen at first glance. Subtle variations in color and the tiniest of precise touches render his models into actors whose stories transcend the moment in which they are photographed.

Learning by paying?

Looking at the images of the soon to be opened Rolex Learning Center… makes me wonder if maybe… I paid too much for my Sea Dweller after all?! But then again… it all appears to be for a good cause…

A different view

Let’s for once neglect the charming-tourist-postcard views… and look at Switzerland from a different angle! That’s pretty much what Ursula Sprecher and Julian Salinas did when they shot and selected the images for their book Heimatland. The book is a beauty and some claim that Ursula and Julian have found the “soul” of Switzerland.

Gehard Demetz

If you’re as much of a fan of Gehard’s work as I am… ever since i saw him at the SCOPE Art fair in Basel last spring… make sure not to miss the exclusive interview with him at Yatzer!

Unfortunately Gehard is not represented by me but by Galleria Rubin (Milan, Italy).

I truly admire his work. More images after the jump.

Reminds me of a few of you out there… and no… this is not purely an American “attitude”.

Like a bull in a china shop

Or as we say… “Wie ein Elefant im Porzellanladen” wouldn’t prevent me from packing my bags and moving straight into the Fabergé shop recently opened in Geneva!

Who would have expected such a look from a company who’s mostly famous for laying eggs since something like 1882…

A warm Welcome to Chelsea

This is still pretty much how 75% of Chelsea Art Galleries like to say a “Warm Welcome” to their average visitor!

My friend and I actually had the same idea of doing a series like “Sentry” by Andy Freeberg a while ago. Guess it was not that “original” after all. Nevertheless… my hat goes of to Andy Freeberg for pulling it off!
